San Jose Liposuction

San Jose liposuction qualfied surgeons use this technique to REFINE the figure, not for overall weight loss. People who think liposuction is a weight loss method are mistaken, and they cannot use it instead of traditional methods of reducing weight.

The amounts of fat removed during a liposuction procedure are actually quite small, and the patient does not lose much weight. The great thing about liposuction is that the surgeon can use it to remove fat from targeted areas of the body that are often resistant to efforts to lose weight in patients who have, overall, already taken off a lot of pounds.

Areas such as hips, buttock, thighs, knees, arms, chin and neck, stomach and, of course, the infamous "love handles" are typical areas addressed with liposuction. In these cases, the patient has lost the weight but, no matter what they do, these areas stubbornly remain. By using several types of specialized equipment, San Jose liposuction surgeons are able to do the final contouring of the patient's body.

During the procedure, the fat beneath the skin is permanently removed with a suction device. Liposuction has been popular with women for some time, but men are starting to realize the benefit of the procedure to reduce overly large breasts. The people who benefit the most from the procedure, according to several San Jose liposuction surgeons, are those that have concentrated areas of fat and firm, elastic skin.

For the results to look good, the skin must contract to conform to the new contours without sagging. Since older patients often have skin that is less elastic, they often are not good candidates for this procedure.

It can vary with the size of the treated area, but most patients are able to return to their normal activities in 1 or 2 weeks. After that, a full recovery from the effects of surgery will usually take a few months. During the first few weeks of recovery, a compression garment is often worn.

Ultrasound Assisted Liposculpture Surgery

Ultrasound-assisted Liposculpture, abbreviated "UAL", is a new variant of the typical liposuction procedure. In this variant on normal liposuction, a metal probe is used which carries a high frequency ultrasonic sound. This high frequency sound actually makes the fat cells turn to liquid so they can then be vacuumed up by the suction part of the device.

Using this technique, larger amounts of fat can be removed since there is much less tissue damage and bleeding. Compared with traditional liposuction, UAL also produces less bruising. Another advantage of UAL is a smoother surface and less contour irregularity than in traditional liposuction.

The UAL may not work for you, however, since the probe can only be used in certain areas of the body. Check with your surgeon to see if this applies to you. Do not be surprised if UAL treatments cost significantly more than traditional liposuction, since the equipment is quite expensive. Lastly, be aware that the first two generations of UAL machines could possibly damage skin with overly powerful sound waves. Third and later generation equipment apparently have resolved this problem.

When you have found the San Jose liposuction surgeon you want to use for the procedure, you may find that they recommend using a combination of techniques to achieve the desired result.
